Kingston, Jamaica (September 8, 2017) – Update#1

The Salvation Army officers in Sint Maarten are fine, with modest damage to their facilities and they currently have 37 persons sheltering at their corps building.  The officers are expecting this number to rise over the next few days and will be prepared for this need.  The Salvation Army Antigua District is partnering with the government to feed evacuees from Barbuda.

The Salvation Army in Haiti and Turks and Caicos is assessing the damage caused by Hurricane Irma and will be developing a strategy of response.  
The Salvation Army will be monitoring the hurricane as it makes landfall in the Bahamas.

The Divisional Headquarters in Nassau has preemptively restocked its food pantry with emergency supplies to give rapid response to the affected areas.
