90th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
The School for the Blind & Visually Impaired
is Celebrating 90 Years of Service

(Kingston) - The 90th Anniversary celebrations commenced on November 19th where a Sunday Service took place this morning. Lt Colonel Cheryl Carpenter, Territorial Social Secretary, lead the service and Lt Colonel Rosemarie Brown, Secretary for Personnel, brought Gods Word.

The service was a time of celebration as well as thankfulness to God for the 90 years of Ministry the School has been delivering and continues to do so in the days and years ahead.

 In attendance were the present Administrators Majors Robert & Paula Pyle; Principal Mr. Iyeke Erharuyi; Present Staff of the school; Past Principal Major Gladys Lucario; Past Administrators; Past Students; Present Students; Vice President of the School Board, Mr. Trevor Allen; Ministry of Education Representative, Mrs. White; Alumni President, Ms. Camille Wilson; Caribbean Officers; Parents; Friends and well-wishers.

The Schools Choir and the Alumni Singers bought beautiful messages in song. Past Student, Mr. Wilbert Williams, Order of Distinction, BSc, spoke in his reflection of his time when he attended the school in 1947.

Present Student Sarra Lindo spoke about being part of the school and her experience since arriving at the school as a 6 year old in 2007.

Other events being held this coming week are as follows…

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017 - Open Day 9:00am. The theme for the day is 'UNITY'.

The General Public across Jamaica and anywhere in the world if you happen to be in Jamaica, you are invited to attend and see the work of our students on display in the auditorium. The work that will be displayed will be from the Infant, Primary, Secondary, Music, Mobility, Orientation and IT Departments. There will also be the JAWS (Job Access With Speech) software on display as well.

During the Lunch Hour, there will also be a Concert with performances by our Choir and other Students.

After lunch there will be a Blind Cricket Match organized by the Sports Department, and the Old Scholars will be playing against the Current Students.

Saturday, November 25th, 2017 - Award Presentation Dinner - 7:00pm

The SFTB&VI School Board of Management has organized this event to be held in the Auditorium,
57 Manning's Hill Road, Kingston 8, St.Andrew, Jamaica.
Contribution - $2,500.00 - proceeds in aid of the School Library.
Dress Code - Semi-Formal.
Special Guest and Speaker - The Honorable Ruel Reid, DC, JP, Minister of Education and Youth.
